The main cause of concrete weakness against infiltration of water and other chemical agents is the concrete porosity and lack of required compactness. The presence of such weaknesses in concrete not only results in water infiltration and seepage from storages and tanks constructed using such concrete, but penetration of chemical agents such as sulfates and chlorides and their combination with concrete ingredients also causes cracks development, and more damage and porosity.
